This symposium and seminar consisted of two parts. In the former part of the event, highly renowned experts invited from Japan and overseas delivered lectures on safety-related themes. Also, invited students attending the Symposium and Seminar visited a nuclear fuel facility, Japan Nuclear Fuel Limited (JNFL) and Onagawa Nuclear Power Station, Tohoku Electric Power co., inc to deepen their understanding of their roles at the front line of nuclear fields. Additionally, on their way back from the tour, students stopped at an extensive park in Fukushima to participated in a mini-fieldwork exercise on radiation measurement. Dose measurements data were compared from the some spots in Ookayama campus to those in the park to observe the consequences of radioactive contamination due to a major nuclear disaster while mastering the measurement techniques for environmental doses.
